My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : Creative writing is one of those seemingly soft skills that requires a very specific set of disciplines and skills. I can help with developing those.

I try to do some explication, and then have the student try some exercises or venture out on their own. In the cases of multiple sessions, I DO assign homefun (as opposed to homework), so that the student will have some experience when next we meet.
I am an experienced graphic and web designer. But in college I thought I was going to be either an English or History Professor, or an Attorney. That's why I studied lots of his History, English, and took the pre-law major Philosophy. I have several year of post-graduate classes as well. I started teaching Graphic Design in 2002, and brought into that Web Design, along with the skills that accompany them - HTML and CSS. I have even designed signs, and love it!

My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : Although the bulk of my career has involved writing as a journalist, I have -- from time to time -- ventured into fiction and feel perfectly comfortable tutoring in that subject area as well.

I am foremost a writer whose 38-year, award-winning career is rooted in journalism. However, I also have an extensive teaching background. I have taught writing labs at St. Thomas University – Miami, Florida (1987-88), Mississippi State University (1988-89) and Texas A&M University (1989-93); and I currently offer tutoring services to 10th- and 11th-grade foreign exchange students from all over the world. Passionate Elementary Education Tutor

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! I have twenty hours of graduate work in an MFA in Creative Writing Program and a BA with an English Major at Texas Christian University. I have four poetry publications in national magazines. These are "The Driftwood Review" "Puffin Circus" "The Houston Literary Review" and "quantum poetry magazine." Also, I have a short story published in "Descant: Fort Worth's Journal of Fiction and Poetry" in 2004. I know a lot about creative writing technique and methodology. I've picked up some of these methods from great teachers and professors, but I also stress that to do creative writing well, one has to be true to one's own voice; so that the techniques are there, not as fundamental blueprints, but to help the student find their voice.

Do you need an advanced tutor?

Experience tutoring MS, PhD, post-doctoral, or resident-interns in the medical field. I also have tutored established PE type engineers and MBAs for executive type presentations.
