As an Intervention Specialist, I taught in an urban setting for five years. Presently, I enjoy being a substitute teacher in my local school district, Avon Lake City Schools and other districts near Avon Lake. The methods of teaching I was instructed when I obtained my Bachelor in Education at the University of Akron Ohio, from 1989-1991, was the following Integrated, Whole language approach and Montessori. The method we were instructed to use in the Akron city school system was Integrated which uses basic and whole language approach language Arts. These integrated units allow us the opportunity to make sure children are learning relevant information and applying that knowledge to real life scenarios. Upon graduating from Ashland University with my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education, I began teaching 3rd grade at a charter school in Lorain. Soon afterwards, I started my classes to obtain my Master's Degree in Teaching and Curriculum, which I acquired in May of 2008.
