I think it takes a lot for one teacher to reach all of types of students who are all at different levels of interest in the subject being taught as well as at different levels of understanding. However, I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to give them all equal opportunity to learn. Students come with various background and motivation levels and ways of learning. A tutor needs to be able to discover within the student the best way for that student to learn. I believe students should be pressed not to memorize facts but to use critical thinking skills, tying things together and seeing relations so a multitude of similar problems can be solved. There are many ways science can be taught. I recently graduated from Bar Ilan University in Israel with a B.Sc. in Chemistry. The program has a strong emphasis on organic chemistry and synthesis. Throughout my schooling, I frequently tutored junior student who were struggling or needed help preparing for tests. I studied Hebrew for eight years in grade school.
