A Little Bit About Me...
I first determine the student's learning style so I have an idea what works for him or her.
Learners who have experienced repeated failure need successful experiences to help build self-confidence; I start with what they can do successfully already.
Knowing the individual's interests and talents helps me tie the topic to something important to the student, and to help them understand how the topic relates to their present and future lives.
Finally, helping the individual understand how she or he learns is the key that will allow him or her to take control. I help the student identify strategies and systematic ways to problem-solve so that she or he can develop independence.
