Drawing Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Hoyt, KS

I am a kenisthetic learner but when "hands on" is really not an option I (especially with mathematics) draw so that I have a visual, physical representation of the task at hand. I have never had formal experience tutoring. However Throughout my years of schooling I would participate in study groups which I see as everyone tutoring eachother. I also have two siblings, one very close in age and the other is approximately four years younger. Needless to say, I frequently helped my younger sister with her homework. Just to clarify when I say 'help' I do not mean I just gave her the answers, I would make sure that I either explained or demonstrated the correct way to approach a problem in order to make sure that she understood how to apply the knowlege come test time.

I love working with people and seeing them succeed. I tend to meet the person at the level where they are at, then adapt the lessons to their learning style. I enjoy working with all children. During the past twenty years, I had the opportunity to work with very diverse students from kindergarten to 6th grade. Given the right instruction, I believe that all students can learn. As a reading specialist, I have seen students go from struggling readers to confident readers. By working with these students and seeing their lives change; I know I make a difference. I believe that all teachers should be life-long learners. All teachers should be informed on new best practices and be knowledgeable of current educational policies. These are the reasons that I belong to TESOL and the International Reading Association.
