It is difficult for me to say which age of student I love working with because each student I have worked with from age 6 - 25 has been very rewarding. For most of the last four years I have been involved in some aspect of education, from teaching children in Korea to tutoring college students in writing. I love teaching children and working with children's choirs. I had some very fine education classes at Aquinas. I'm very intuitive with children. While you must objectively assess the childs level, you must also be intuitive. The teacher has to tap into the innate knowledge and then approach the method of teaching in the way that child can hear you. I am 47 and a mother of an 11 yr. old. I am patient and kind with children, but overall, what comes through is my whimsical, comical, spontaneous nature. Children take to it because I'm also intelligent as opposed to "clownish". Being no stranger to difficult classroom settings, I understand that ideal teaching conditions rarely exist.
