Logic Tutoring

In Logic, deductive reasoning concerns what follows necessarily from given premises (if a, then b). Confused? Select a tutor today. Logic was studied in several ancient civilizations, including the Indian subcontinent, China and Greece. Logic was established as a discipline by Aristotle, who gave it a fundamental place in philosophy. The study of logic was part of the classical trivium. Logic is often divided into two parts, inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning. Want help? Select a tutor now. Test coming up on deductive reasoning? Select a tutor today.

My comments on tutoring Logic: Logic is what operates our devices and internet, everything from cars to TVs are controlled by logic. I love to explore and learn how logical processes make up our digital lives and just how they make our electrical devices work.

I prefer to teach by doing, as I believe that performing tasks and becoming familiar with the process is more beneficial than wrote memorization or written assignments/quizzes. I like to get to know my student, where they are in their studies, and what they feel they need to work on versus what they already know. I have plenty of experience working on personal, university, and job related projects. Notable projects I have worked on would include creating a mobile study app for the Genetic Counseling degree at Boise State University, creating a back-end staff directory service/database for the New York Public Library, and plenty of Flutter projects.

Experienced as an instructor teaching CPR, First Aid, swimming, and lifeguarding courses to individuals or classes of up to 30 students. Proficient in math, science, and test taking skills. I truly enjoy teaching others, as I have worked as a mentor in engineering camps and in the freshman dormitories at Arizona State University, as well as worked as a residenial assistant in the freshman dormitories. I like helping students understand larger concepts in a simpler way using tricks I have found helpful, connecting the big picture at the end. I don't believe that anything is too difficult, it may just need to be broken down and approached differently.

I am a strong believer in the Socratic style of teaching which, as you know, helps students themselves to think through issues and problems and discover the answer as we move along. I have always enjoyed leading students to that 'eureka' moment where they have grasped a difficult idea or concept, put it in their own words, and communicated it back to me, the teacher. I do believe that most children are capable of this kind of learning, at an appropriate level with their development, and do remember the information better than if they have learned something by rote, but not really understood it. The past ten years for me have been spent teaching English and theology in a third-world setting in Africa, Nigeria to be specific. I have been responsible for organizing and overseeing the curriculum as well as classroom teaching since 1998. I was also a teacher at a Community College in Dall

I enjoy math and have a passion for communicating math in an understandable way to all students. I enjoy working with middle school and high school students to help them find success in their current math classes. I believe that each student can find success at some level of math. I like to laugh with my students and enjoy our time working together. I am relaxed and patient and try hard not to add any more stress to a student's math load. I work to help each student succeed. After graduating from Seattle Pacific University with a BA in Mathematics, I have been teaching high school math for the past ten years. I have taught all math courses from Algebra 1 through Pre-Calculus and AP Statistics. I returned to school while teaching and earned my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from SPU. For the last five years, I oversaw the middle school and high school math program and teacher

I have been translating complicated ideas into a language/format that others can understand since kindergarten. I have always enjoyed the process. As a college student at Carnegie Mellon University, I started working at Sylvan Learning Center as a math tutor specializing in Algebra and Calculus. I also found quite a bit of success working with behavior problem students in middle school and higher math. Over the years, I have both returned to Sylvan periodically as well as did private tutoring when opportunities presented themselves. I love education and the process of learning. Access to education is critical for every person to be able to pursue their dreams as they see fit. I am a concrete random learner who was successful in an abstract linear system. The way my brain processes information give me a unique viewpoint that can find a way to help others learn and grow. Confidence

Due to my background, I have learned patience and passion are essential for a student’s success. Further, not everyone learns the same way. Therefore, over the last five years, I have discovered multiple ways to explain something differently to help develop understanding. Further, I feel that your student needs to understand the material, not just regurgitate information for a test. This way, your student can draw upon this knowledge for future classes and tests. For the last five years, I have been helping children and adolescents with disabilities and, more recently, tutoring students at BSU. After five and a half years at BSU, I graduated with an elementary education degree. I have a background in mathematics and science, as both were previous majors I chose to pursue. During my last year of college, I was in the public schools where I taught and apprenticed under master teache

I love being creative and finding ways to help others learn. I am great with children, and believe that patience and encouragement can give them confidence to excel at anything they choose. I am very easy to get along with. I am very patient and understanding. Everyone has different strengths in learning, and everyone has different learning styles. A good educator needs to be aware of the needs of the individual, and teach them in styles that allow them to process and retain information. I love to see those I tutor light up when they finally understand something. I enjoy making a difference to those I teach and watching them succeed. I have always had a love for math and science. I was able to challenge and develop my problem solving skills in achieving a Masters Degree in Architecture. I have a also received a Minor in Business. I believe that teaching through lecture and hands-on activities is the most effective. A student that is capable of "teaching" the teacher a lesson and explaining the subject in their own words will have a greater understanding of the subject. When I teach and tutor I explain to the student the topic in my words, and then continue to ask for feedback until the student is capable of explaining the lesson in their own words. While attending law school, I spent 2 full academic years tutoring first year law students. I tutored property and constitutional law. It was through tutoring that I was able to help several students improve their grades, both through emotional support and exceptional knowledge in the subjects. I enjoy learning new things and sharing that knowledge with others.

I take a calm and respectful approach to teaching and tutoring students. I view the exercise as an opportunity to provide guidance rather than instruction. I encourage students to arrive at an understanding of problems and solutions in the context of how they relate to the fundamental principles underlying the question at hand, be it a mathematics or scientific specific challenge. Rather than providing solutions, I demonstrate how to ask the correct questions, how to approach a problem with the mindset of understanding how it relates to fundamental principles and thus draw the logical line of reasoning to arrive at a workable conclusion or solution. I’ve always been of the mindset that the “pencil remains in the student’s hand” meaning they do the work, I am simply there to help encourage them towards the correct line of reasoning. I was a "Master Tutor" of Mathematics and Physics at BSU

I once had a Chemistry professor whose encouragement and unique enjoyment of Chemistry inspired and allowed me to understand Chemistry like I never had before. When tutoring I strive to emulate this professor. Tutoring is wonderful because you get to know how an individual learns best and can help them accordingly. Allowing the student the opportunity to analyze a problem and determine their own strategy is very important. I am there to provide the students with guidance and suggestions that will help direct them to the correct answer and allow them to figure out their own problem solving methods. I am also there to provide the student with structured, specific guidance and to help them learn and understand the materials any way I can. I have earned an AA in Liberal arts, AS in Allied Health, and a BS in Biology which have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math, chemis

I have spent the last five years attaining my BS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho. Throughout those four years I have had several opportunities to help out by mentoring young students. I am a part of a greek organization on campus that has housed many students, of which I have had the chance to help. I have tutored in several areas including: English, Mathematics (up to Ord. Differential Equations), programming, engineering, and CAD programs. I also have a lot of experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. I have not tutored in, but have recently taken and completed, physics, chemistry, materials, robotics, and economics. Initially, I like to find out the basics. I want to know their underlying assumptions in any part of academia, whether it's math or science. I have come to find that the very simplest of assumptions can mislead students. I

I enjoy teaching, seeing that moment where a problem actually makes sense to someone. I am primarily a hands on teacher for physics especially though I am very comfortable with a lecture based teaching style. During my tenure at Montana State University, where I majored in Physics with a minor in mathematics, I was a primary resource for other classmates for our homework assignments. A group of us was found almost daily before class checking over homework where I was usually the one that would help others with the more complicated problems. Recently I have been a TA for introductory physics class at Boise State University.

From January of 2002 to June 2008 I taught rock climbing classes for Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon. These were 1 credit PE classes that covered beginning, intermediate and advanced rock climbing. I prepared lessons, gave lectures, supervised student practice and assessed student performance. In addition during the 2003/03 I tutored students in Geology and Mathematics while I attended Clackamas Community College. My teaching style is easy going and less formal. I know that each student learns best in a unique way. I feel that the most effective teachers try to mold their teaching style to the student rather than the other way around. Also I like to make sure that the student learns how the particular information being taught fits in the larger field of study. I find this greatly enhances retention of information and the ability to use that information.
