I would describe my philosophy of education as an eclectic mixture of perennialism, progressivism, existentialism, and essentialism. As a prospective educator, I find it extremely important to ensure student learn basic skills and concepts in a classroom environment that is conducive to leaning. My experience in teaching began as a UPS manager in 2007, when I was in charge of training new employees in UPS processes. In 2008, I enhanced my capabilities with an English degree (3.98 GPA) and more teaching experience in the form of ESL tutoring for Korean students. Early in 2010, I began teaching pre-AP English at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School, where I built curriculum around the subject as well as formed a key component of the school's Graduation Exam, Writing Assessment, and AP exam preparation. As a UPS manager/trainer, English teacher, and ESL tutor, I literally spend 78 hours a week teaching—43 of those hours specifically English or test-preparation based.
My approach to teaching can be best described as adaptive. My varied experience has enabled me to develop different methods for different situations. There is no "typical student," and it is my belief that a g ... read more

I believe that there are 3 types of learners: 1.Oral : learn by hearing 2.Visual : learn by seeing 3.Kinesthetic: learn by hearing, seeing and using their hands The Oral learner is a “teacher’s pet” because they are the students that will listen in class, barely take notes and do quite well in school. The Visual learner must “look on” as a teacher reads, not taking notes but to follow along in a book. The Kinesthetic learner usually has to listen, take notes, read along but will also tap their foot or a pencil. These types of “distractions” actually help a kinesthetic learner.
I have a degree in Early Childhool however, I have taught Biology for 9th and 10th graders in a private school. My husband, being prior military kept us moving so I have been a substitute for many years. I also taught my son until the 4th grade and he is now attending private school.

In my experience teaching a wide range of ages and children from very different backgrounds, I have seen how all students can thrive in an academic setting with the right instructional strategy. All students learn differently; some need their assignments read aloud, while others prefer to read alone. Some learn better by hearing what is being taught, while others prefer to learn with visual aides. Some thrive on group and peer assignments, while others prefer to work alone or one-on-one with the teacher. My job is to find how your student will grasp what is being taught in the most effective manner of teaching.
I did not realize I wanted to become a teacher until after I took a long-term substitute job while looking for employment. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and decided to further my education so that I could continue to teach. My undergraduate degree is in Mass Comm ... read more
