A Little Bit About Me...

As a parent of 4 children, I have a love for teaching in a variety of settings. I gain a sense of the students' interests and tie every subject back to something they are interested in. They need to "see" what difference their studies make. Learning needs to be a love, and I let my love for learning help to create that desire in the student. Once the desire is strong, the knowledge base grows easily. A Little Bit About Me...

Much of my teaching style I learned while at Apple Computer in one on one computer teaching sessions. I tend to be a very enthusiastic and encouraging anyway, but Apple taught me an additional patience and a lead-learning-out teaching style that promotes self-discovery and avoids simply giving answers. Though it is geared towards adults, I have since found that adapting the patent and deliberate pace of LLO teaching to the learning level of younger children is effective and fun for both myself and the student. I graduated in 2004 form Portland State University with a Social Sciene degree. I have been in teaching since 2008 when I passed my substitute teachers class.
