I am a graduate of Tennessee Temple University, with experience tutoring at Tennessee Temple University, as well as University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, in various topics, including biodiversity, mathematics (up to pre-calculus), history, and American Sign Language. I have worked in both General Education and ESE education. I speak spanish fluently and french, semifluently. I also have some background in American Sign Language. I have also worked with the emotionally disturbed child.
I use whatever works best for the child and can hold their attention span. It depends largely on the child's age, interests, and whether or not there are any learning, or any other disabilities. My teaching style is very specific to each student I tutor. I try to tailor my thoughts so that any student at any level in the subject can understand me. At the teaching center, the focus was to help guide the student to get the correct answer and not just give the answer. Sometimes the thinking process to achieving the correct answer is more important than the answer itself. I also try using diagrams and figures when they are called for to explain some of the topics. I frequently use positive reinforcement so the student feels even more encouraged to learn.
