My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : I studied Shakespeare in high school literature classes. I also minored in Theatre in college. Shakespeare made up a large portion of my theatre studies.

I always liked playing up my quirky personality. My favorite teachers and professors were the goofy ones, the ones who can relate to the students' fun side. These teachers also challenged me the most, and I ended up getting so much more out of the course. I figure that, if a student likes the teacher, he or she will pay more attention and have a deeper respect for the teacher. The teacher then can use this trust to push the student a little more, intellectually. I find that is what works best for me.
I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. I have experience teaching not only at the college level, but also for grades 6-12. I was an English teacher during my most recent stay in France and I've tutored Accounting at Houston Community College. As an English teacher, I taught not only grammar and comprehension specifically to students that had issues with the grammar of English, but I also was involved in teaching Shakespeare to the students as well as many different forms of English literature. In addition, I have acted as a French tutor for many years.
I try to avoid lecture in teaching. For me, personally, instruction comes from helping the student understand the material on their own without having to directly be told everything. This comes through in creative exercises that help the student to understand the concept better and to hold onto the idea much easier.

My style of teaching is entirely dependent upon the needs of each student. My abilities and skills are highly adaptable to the needs each student faces. I believe that each student has a certain type of intelligence. Some will be gifted in art or music or visual learning or learning by repetition, and I consider it my responsibility to find out how each student learns, and then try to teach using their innate intelligence.
