A Little Bit About Me...

Learning is my passion, and helping others realize the importance of education is an important goal of mine. I approach teaching as a helper and guide rather than a lecturer; I feel that most learning takes place when a person figures out the problem on their own with help understanding the theory behind the issue at hand. Everyone can learn, it is just a matter of how and where the learning takes place. As your child’s tutor, I will work hard to help him understand and learn the skills necessary to succeed.
As a graduate from South Dakota State University, I received a liberal arts education where I majored in Political Science and Global Studies with focus areas of history and religion. I believe every student has their own learning style. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to find the style that works best for the student to help ensure the student not only learns the material but is also able to retain the information. I believe successful learning can be obtained by providing a relaxed environment that provides the individual structure and attention each student needs.
I have more than 5 years experience as a substitute teacher at almost every level. I have had the opportunity to also serve as a long term substitute teacher. I also have 1 year of experience teaching at a pre-school level, 2.5 years teaching at a post-secondary level, and a semester of tutoring a middle school student.
