As a graduate from South Dakota State University, I received a liberal arts education where I majored in Political Science and Global Studies with focus areas of history and religion. In December of 2009, I earned a Bachelor of Arts, which focus’s on the humanities with a heavy influence on writing. Through composition courses and research for term papers, I have come to love the art of writing. Throughout high school and college, I have helped both peers and colleagues find ideas for papers, thesis structure, and the editing process.
Learning is my passion, and helping others realize the importance of education is an important goal of mine. I believe every student has their own learning style. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to find the style that works best for the student to help ensure the student not only learns the material but is also able to retain the information. I believe successful learning can be obtained by providing a relaxed environment that provides the individual structure and attention each student needs.
I have more than 5 years experience as a substitute teacher at almost every level. I have had the opportunity to also serve as a long term substitute teacher. I also have 1 year of experience teaching at a pre-school level, 2.5 years teaching at a post-secondary level, and a semester of tutoring a middle school student.
