I am a third year college student at Grand Valley State University. I have taken most of the major sciences such as chemistry, physiology and anatomy or micro and genetics. I test out algebra so I didnt have to take college algebra. I took all math classes in high school up to pre- cal. although I have not taken any math classes in college but I am confident that I will be able to help someone out because I tutor my cousin and sister all the time. My sister is a junior in high school and my cousin is a fifth grader.

Whatever material you would like me to cover please let me know in advance so that I can review the section. In math and science I try to provide a practical explanation for why the material is important and interesting as well as teach any tips and tricks that I've learned.
I'm a 2nd year Electrical and Computer Engineering Student at Michigan Technological University. I've taken everything from Calculus 2 and Differential Equations on down with only Calc 3 left to go for math. Geometry is one of my top subjects! As an engineering student, I have used geometry (correctly) for the past four years and throughout high school. Geometry is extremely useful and enjoyable once mastered. I am a visual learner and logical thinker. The equations and proofs involved in geometry come naturally.

From my experience as a math student, I have seen that the best approach to teaching math is to make it highly step-by-step. My teaching style is highly logical, making sure the student understands the process for themselves. I can teach using words or pictures and adjust the pace according to the ability of the student.
My experience as a tutor began with my younger sister. When she was a sophomore, then later a junior, I taught her Algebra 2 and, later, Functions Statistics and Trigonometry. She passed both classes, remaining on the honor roll. My next tutoring experience was in tutoring my fifth-grade cousin. At the end of two months, he won the math award at his school. Since then, I have tutored students in College Algebra, High School Algebra, Basic Math, and Junior High Algebra. I have enjoyed this experience immensely and have seen positive results.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved teaching and working with kids. I have volunteered at a number of places that allowed me to exercise my ability to tutor and mentor children ages 5-17. I recalled my difficulties in learning difficult subjects, my difficulties are not universal but I draw from them in finding what is blocking the student from grasping certain concepts. I recall teaching my children at a very early age the concept of ratios. I used windows, tiles from the kitchen, a pizza pie etc. This, before going to pencil and paper and it worked. Till this day they know fractions inside and out because they understood the concept in real life. This is typically my approach, then we can go and do problems in the abstract on paper.
