As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. A Little Bit About Me...

I am an avid believer in authentic learning and have taught using differential instruction for many years. I believe that students learn by doing and therefore provide real life experiences to allow students to learn at their own pace.
During my schooling, I have earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as a master's in Library and Information Studies. I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else.
I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.

My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that all students possess the potential to learn. Teaching should be done in a multisensory method to appeal to students' senses and to help them succeed as best as they can. Each student is an individual and should be treated with respect. I believe I can be a good teacher as I have the necessary background and the experience. The fact that I like sharing knowledge would only add to my interest in a teaching opportunity. If I have a choice, I would prefer one-on-one type tutoring classes to group courses. My style of teaching is pretty basic. I would want my students to spend a lot of time practicing and knowing their subject matters. I would want my students to put in the required dedication to the educational opportunity on hand.
