As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. I’m eager to work as a tutor and use my experience to help advance someone else’s education. I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that all students possess the potential to learn. If I have a choice, I would prefer one-on-one type tutoring classes to group courses. My style of teaching is pretty basic. As a student at UNC Charlotte I was also privileged to be a part of the schools track team. This experience gave me good time management skills and also gave me unique opportunities to help my fellow teammates on their math homework while away on meets. My senior year I began tutoring officially through the athletic department, where I still tutor occasionally. I have tutored multiple students in Computer Science, and basic Statistics courses.
