I enjoy teaching and do my best to make learning fun and easy for my pupils. I approach lessons by letting the student realize how and why the lesson is important and how it relates to their lives. I firmly believe everyone can learn; the style in which they learn may differ from others, but given the correct approach, all teachers/tutors can be successful.
With my Bachelor's degree, I began tutoring through Reading Success and conducted private tutoring of Georgia History. I progressed to teaching English, Spanish, and some Special Education Resource classes at the High School level, and continued to teach lower level English classes at a local college along with reading in an Adult Continuing Education program through another college. My writing skills have been sharpened as I edited and wrote articles for newsletters, newspaper releases, and in an administrative capacity.

A Little Bit About Me...

While attending Claflin University in the pursuit of obtaining duel BA's in the field of journalism and sociology, my off times was spent in the middle schools of Orangeburg, SC for nearly six years. I spent 4-5 hours in the classroom (daily) as an assistant and tutor/mentor in language arts classes grades 6-8. My majoring in sociology allows me to use human behavioral knowledge to reach kids effectively in order to sustain their focus which allows them to embrace the concept of learning. I have extensive grammatical skills due to I have worked as a journalist for a daily newspaper and written several research papers that has been published in respected journals. I believe that effective teaching is comprised of two necessary and related elements: knowledge of the content and ability to communicate it. Knowing the material is not enough to be effective in teaching it; likewise, communication skills won't work alone. Thus, I take care to understand the concepts I expect to cover and to make them understandable to the students. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a patient, understanding, and considerate person. I love the sight of a child learning something after a person takes the time to show the steps. At the moment, I am unemployed throughout the week so i can meet with a child/children whenever they need me. I also can help a child through their personal problems because it is not always that a child does not understand the information; sometimes they have other things affecting their lives.
