Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I am a qualified Ortan-Gillingham tutor and have recently finished classes leading for my reading endorsment. I also have a Masters in Arts in Special Education, mild-moderate, K-12.

I have a Masters of Arts in Special Education, K-12, and have just completed classes leading towards my reading endorsement. I am currently a qualified Orton-Gillingham tutor. Besides my practicum experiences, I have been a Subsitute Teacher for the past six years, and have tutored students in grades 1 - 4th grade in reading and math.

I love working with children on every level but especially younger children. I believe all children can grow through proper placement and necessary steps of encouragement. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching has been my last career change. My prior experience has been in the field of manufacturing, maintenance engineering services and construction management. This diversified background was instrumental in equipping me to acquire a technology education certificate in three states (NY, OH, NJ) I am equipped to tutor elementary students in math, the physical sciences and language arts. A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher, accountant, mother of 4, I have seen so many changes in education. Thank goodness, we are looking more at the student as an individual than as a cookie cutter kid. One size does not fit all. My passion, is to instill the love of reading into all children, as I did with my own, and as I try to with my high school students. Reading is the base of all education. If a student struggles here, it will show in all classes. I use a method where I find out exactly where a student is in his reading, and through running records, I can show him where he seems to be struggling. I also use above level books, where I just read to the student and he follows along, using the cloze procedure to make sure he is on track

By myself being a person who has a GED and went to Job Corps. My teaching style is related to my background as overcoming all types of odd's in order to succeed. I like to feel out a student to see what their weaknesses might be then I like to work with the student to build confidence and build more adacademic knowledge and success as time would allow.
