A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout high school and college, I have tutored peers and younger students in both math and physics several times, occasionally for pay. Last year I was a course assistant for a college freshman-year math course in theoretical math at Harvard University. I am enrolling in a PhD program in pure math at the University of Texas, Austin, where I will have a 16-hour-per week teaching load including three sections of undergraduate calculus. When I was a course assistant, my section scored higher on the quizzes and exams than the other sections. I certainly put in a lot of effort and enjoyed teaching and helping students gain the deep understanding of the material to do well in a difficult college math course. I ask questions, I make math fun!! I draw pictures. The assinments are OUR assignments the students are not alone. Math was hard for me too I GET why they are stuck!!
I work with students of various backgrounds, aging from pre teen to retirement age, many with learning disabilities, many who are also ahead of their peers. I have a resource room and lesson plans for each group of students seperated by subject. I help them with Math, time management and note taking. I work closely with other administrative staff and allow students to discover their potential.

More than 1,000 students have been enrolled in my math classes over the past 5 years. I have worked with at least 100 students during 1:1 help sessions or professional tutoring. Topics include algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, probability, statistics and physics. I taught 3 years full time at two high schools and I taught more than a dozen semesters part time at 3 colleges.
