A Little Bit About Me...

The most important element of teaching is to realize one is teaching a person. In a tutoring situation, it is especially important to discover exactly how to present material to the student. As a teacher, I seek to understand the student and then present the material using terms and examples the student can understand. Finally, I literally believe the only “stupid question” is one the learner doesn’t ask.
I hold a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree in Science Education. I was certified in the State of Louisiana to teach Chemistry, Biology, General Science, and Computer Literacy. I taught high school Chemistry, Physics, Computer Literacy, and Study Skills. I have taught Biology Lab courses and Computer Information Systems courses at the college level, and have substantial experience teaching algebra to students preparing for the GED exam.

I have been in the educational field for over 15 years as a tutor, aide, and a classroom teacher. I have a degree in Food and Nutrition which contained many credit hours of science. In the past five years I have had experience teaching music to children from ages five through high school. During this time I have had many different students with different needs. After graduating from the University of Missouri - Columbia with a BS in Mathematics and a BSEd in Secondary Mathematics Education, I have had several opportunities as both classroom teacher and individual tutor for students ranging from middle school through college aged. Having recently returned from studying translation in Nairobi, Kenya, I have a part-time high school mathematics teaching position currently.
