I have a BS in chemical engineering. I have 13 years of applying engineering and project management principles in the automotive plastics industry. A key to my success is influencing people by explaining "why" and "how" something should be done to develop partnerships leading to increased cooperation and advocacy.
In my career in automotive plastics, I coached or taught manufacturing principles to improve quality and efficiency. My demonstrated success is due in part to my efforts to educate and coach operators, engineers and managers to understand the basic principles of chemistry, math and engineering to buy into a logical course of action. I currently am attending western michigan university for a masters degree in statistics. I have experience tutoring chemistry to undergraduates. I also have a great deal of experience writing reports of a highly technical nature.

I recalled my difficulties in learning difficult subjects, my difficulties are not universal but I draw from them in finding what is blocking the student from grasping certain concepts. I recall teaching my children at a very early age the concept of ratios. I used windows, tiles from the kitchen, a pizza pie etc. This, before going to pencil and paper and it worked. Till this day they know fractions inside and out because they understood the concept in real life. This is typically my approach, then we can go and do problems in the abstract on paper.

As I mentioned, I have 3 younger siblings-I've been helping with homework forever, and I understand the frustrations that naturally occur when concepts seem elusive. Additionally, I am completely aware that I'm not perfect; I've taken a lot of upper level, difficult courses, and know what it's like to have trouble, sometimes with the easiest concepts.
