Positive & helping students find what makes them love music

I've got a lot of performing and music experience and follow the idea you can't really teach something if you can't do it!! The things I tutor are all things I have accomplishments in doing. I wrote above that I'm Emmy-nominated, toured everywhere, charted on Billboard and played with Nick Jonas, Pentatonix, etc. I've always chased quality and growth in the areas I've worked on. Especially as a vocalist, songwriter and producer, I've had to do so much by myself outside of instruction that I've gained a lot of knowledge that I regularly impart on my students.

My comments on tutoring Piano : I play for fun and to accompany Primary at church. Have tutored several students at introductory/basic levels.Basic knowledge of musical scales, time signatures, etc.

Focus on grammar, rapid-fire drills for pronunciation and fluency. Short dictations, selected literary passages to read aloud, computer-assisted references.
2 years Live Lab instructor BYU Provo. Summer study abroad Paris and Loire Valley, Taught conversational French. Total of 6 semesters teaching FR 101-201 1 year teaching ELL at primary school. 1 academic year tutoring for Baccalaureat exam at Mid-Pacific Institute Private tutoring of adults and children in Spanish, French and Piano. I have two masters degrees. I have taught music. My employment involves being the IT manager for an automobile dealership. I have dealt with just about every type of PC Problem, hardware, software, e-mail, website security, etc. I also do the bookkeeping for the enterprise. I have my own income tax service. Also, I fix PCs. As far as the creative side, I attend a writers group in which we do creative writing. I have been to over 10 colleges and pretty much understand pedagogy. Pedagogy is how they teach and how you learn. The more advanced the courses you take the less they help or guide you. You're on your own. They hand you a syllabus, and say go figure it out. Basic piano geared towards student interest level. Many of my students have quit piano from other teachers because they were bored or forced to play the same classical song for 4 months until it was perfect. I engage the student.
