I have a BS in Elementary Education. I taught first grade for 7 years, teaching reading, math, science, history and writing. I also tutored at Sylvan Learning Center for three years in Reading, Math (including Algebra I), Writing, Advanced Reading, ACT prep and Writing. I always have to assess what my students don't know. I have to create a method of teaching the information to them that they can relate to. After I teach I always ask myself, "What have they learned? How do I know that they have learned it?" I am genuinely rewarded when I see a student succeed. I also understand that our education system is largely driven my standardized tests.
