Public school is not always rigorous enough for gifted students. When instruction fails to keep students engaged, they learn poor study habits. Ideally, students master study techniques before entering college either through school instruction or tutoring. I have writing, public speaking and other communications courses at the university level. I have also worked as an editor for the better part of two decades so I am good at identifying writing problems and helping students to correct them. I am also an enthusiastic student of American history and government and enjoy sharing that subject with students.

As an Education Director at a Boys & Girls Club, I taught in the non-traditional sense, through after school literature-enhancing programming of various kinds. I instructed K-12 students, and even parents and staff, on many different levels of achievement and ability, so I am very acquainted with diverse populations and accomodating their educational needs through creative tools and approaches.
Since my years as an undergraduate student, one of my passions has always been giving back to the community through tutoring and mentoring. As a graduate of Wellesley College, I continaully strived to do achieve a high level of excellence. One of my biggest regrets in life is that I didn't get a teaching certification while I was in college. It is a profession which I would truly love. As the mother of two children, one of schoolage, I realize now that it would have been a great life choice for me. I have helped many people with their skills along the way, and I would love to do it in a tutoring format now.
