My comments on tutoring English ESOL : Having worked with Latinos most of my life I have interpreted, translated and schooled them most of my life.

I teach according to the necessity of the student or the students,Depending on whether it is one on one situation or a group of people.I realize that in the case of a group or class that not every student is going to learn at the same rate and that not every student has the confidence to speak up.
I was lucky enough to grow up speaking both English and Spanish at home and in schools and social gatherings of Latinos in Mexico. I lived in Mexico for 34 years before going to live in England. I have schooled Latinos in Mexico, England, Canada and the U.S. I owned a Latino employment agency in Indianapolis which I managed for 10 ten years. The vast majority of the workers did not read, write or understood very little English.

I love helping others overcome obstacles to understanding, and showing them that they have the ability to do what they thought was impossible. I believe in building upon a solid foundation so that the student really learns and understands the concepts of a subject (and doesn’t just shoot for a passing grade).
