I have a BA in psychology and have worked for 12 years in the mental health field. I am currently working on getting my Elem. Ed teaching license and have completed all the coursework and have completed my pre-clinicals. I am scheduled to do my student teaching this September in a second grade classroom at Taylors Falls Elementary school. I hold a short call teaching license and have been substitute teaching three to five days per week for the past two school years in five different school district. As a student I enjoyed school and learning and therefore went on after high school to obtain a B.S in Biology. I have always enjoyed science, math, and writing and enjoy helping others in these subjects as well as others. My first tutoring experience was tutoring underprivileged high school students weekly. I then began tutoring middle school and high school students weekly. A Little Bit About Me...

Since I do not believe that proving one's self by test scores is the same as being educated, my classroom is a place of fun, laughter and enjoyment of the role story telling must play in our lives. My students read and share their book choices with others. I promote understanding the author and his motives as a lens for comprehension. In order to fully comprehend a written work, a person must spend time as a writer. I use the Kansas Sentence, Paragraph and Theme writing strategy to teach students to communicate themselves in writing and thereby more fully comprehend exactly what it is that an author does when he writes.

A Little Bit About Me...

Being overwhelmed with information that is just not making sense can be frustrating and most teachers don't have the time to give individual attention to each student. Ever student has different needs and I can help them focus on areas they doesn't understand as well as others. I can also show students that studying can be fun.
I have teaching and tutoring experience at the high school and college level. I love expanding their minds and sharing my knowledge with them. I will be a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Superior in just a few short weeks with my degree in English and Communications.
