I am a recent graduate of the education program at Bowling Green State University and I have had a variety of experiences with children of all ages and abilities in and out of the classroom. I completed an 8 week field placement at Robinson Elementary in Toledo, OH where I assisted the teacher in a self-contained seventh and eighth grade classroom. I taught lessons in the areas of social studies, math and reading. I completed my student teaching placement at Elmwood Middle School in a 6th grade resource room. My teaching style is to provide several ways to solve a problem. Since learning is done in different ways, one of the solution methods will turn on a light bulb and the student will "get it". I bring additional materials and new ways to remember. Last fall I tutored a fifth grader in mathematics. I provided note cards for him in the various solution formulas. I recalled my difficulties in learning difficult subjects, my difficulties are not universal but I draw from them in finding what is blocking the student from grasping certain concepts.
