Presently, I am a student at Walden University working towards obtaining a Ph.D. in Psychology. Since I had earned my BA’s in Psychology and Accounting, MA in Community Counseling, I firmly believe in the institution of learning. I have a diverse spectrum of knowledge from these disciplines. I had volunteered time at Indian River giving psychological assessments to the youths that were incarcerated. I enjoy teaching at a high school level or above. I am very hands on. I am a bit of a story teller - rearranging the circumstances of the problem into an issue more easily related to by the student. I am very patient and relaxed - there are very few people who have a lower stress level than I do.
At MSU, I first worked as a Supplemental Instructor and then became a Graduate Assistant (before I even earned my Bachelor's degree) in the School of Business. I also worked in the math department as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. I have taught business, accounting and math classes at the college level when instructor was absent. My tutoring experience comes from high school, college and job environments. When it comes to bookkeeping and accounting I discovered a natural ability during my first bookkeeping class in high school. After finishing the course material in half the time, I was allowed to assist other students. In college, I was repeatedly asked by fellow classmates to help them acquire a stronger grasp of the subject matter. During my 35-year of teaching, I spent 30 years teaching everything from Alg. 1, Geometry, Alg. 2, Trig., Statistics. I was also a math department chair for 5+ years. In that capacity I wrote curriculum for local and county districts. I also lead my department and county in choosing texts. I worked on committees at the county level in training teachers.
