I was an elementary teacher, I am endorsed in Art, General Science, Home Economics, Language Arts and Social Science at the middle school level. During my full time teaching career, taught T.I.M.S.(integrated math/science) and conducted hands on science labs. I organized the Science Fair, mentored new teachers, directed the after school program in reading, math and hands on learning acitvities. I am a friendly, encouraging, focused teacher. I am best in a one-on-one environment and can acclimate to most personalities. I love learning and care very much about passing that on. I attempt to find each student's "barrier" to learning and customize my approach. I am especially good in the math subjects. With my undergraduate degree in hand I taught Marketing and Sales at Whiteside Area Vocational Center in Sterling, IL, for eight years. I left teaching to enter the corporate world working for several companies, i.e., National Manufacturing Company in Sterling, Amerock Corporation in Rockford, and Greenlee-Textron in Rockford. I moved from a product manager to national account manager. Following my corporate experience I returned to tutoring students, K-12, in Princeton, IL, in math up through geometry, and specializing in tutoring students who could not go to school either due to an accident or illness.

Range

First, I would get to know the client personally (parents, siblings, friends and interests). Next, I would work with the client to identify the problem areas and create a list ranking them from major to minor. With each session, we would work through the list only advancing when the client was comfortable with the subject matter. Patience and understanding with a commitment to education is my teaching style. I have 17 years of professional experience in the personal lines insurance industry. Through two corporate acquisitions, I have held many analytical positions in my career. I started as a Rate Analyst moving on to Actuarial Analyst, Corporate Accountant, Measures and Planning Analyst, Field Underwriting Consultant. I have an MBA from Illinois State University. As a graduate from Briar Cliff College, I have always enjoyed learning and wanting to help others succeed.
