A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the UConn with a B.S. in physics and a minor in mathematics. Because I have used calculus and linear algebra on a daily basis as a means of solving problems I have developed a fundamental understanding of mathematics; an understanding that only someone who has used thse mathematical tools extensively can achieve. I have been tutoring for the past four years. I began tutoring at UConn my junior year and was quickly the most popular physics and calculus tutor on my shift. On several occasions I taught groups of ten or so as a class. It was then that I realized how much I liked teaching. Since I have graduated I have tutored at Sylvan Learning Center and Total Academic Center tutoring various subjects and age groups.

I believe in being a coach to the student rather than traditional teaching. While I will go over any new concepts in a teaching format, I prefer letting the students figure out solving any related problem by guiding and making suggestions, as necessary, to lead them through coming up with a solution. I will sometimes let students make mistakes so that they can later understand the mistake and as a result more likely to learn the material in question more thoroughly.
