My comments on tutoring Grammar : "Let's eat Grandpa!" and "Let's eat, Grandpa!" are two very different sentences differing only by the comma after eat -- or the lack thereof. Grammar is extremely crucial in any language, but especially English. There are also many different methods to use grammar in everyday sentences. Example: "Let us go buy, with our imaginary money of course, some ice cream, Susan." The commas surrounding the phrase "with our imaginary money of course" almost make the phrase seem inconsequential to the reader, skimming material. "Let us go buy (with our imaginary money of course) some ice cream, Susan." The parentheses make the phrase whisper itself to the reader. "Let us go buy -- with our imaginary money of course -- some ice cream, Susan." The dashes in this final variation make the phrase scream out! It creates an aura of importance about what it surrounds.

Granted, I am still in school myself, however, I pride myself in exceptional achievements, and a mountain of sharable knowledge. I maintain a 4.0 GPA, and I take college classes as well. I lack teaching degrees and I lack diplomas in any field, yet I guarantee that in some fields -- History and Geography -- I know as much as a college graduate as I study, and have studied since a small child, those fields extensively in my spare time. I love to teach, the few opportunities I have had reaped great feedback and students who came to me personally saying they learned more than had previously. I have taught Bible Classes, Swimming Classes, Geography Classes, and a History class in the past. It is a thrill to teach and make sure that the best knowledge pegs itself into the minds of our populace. Teachers constantly applaud me on being conscientious, hard-working, knowledgeable, active, and ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Graduating from BYU-Idaho, I've learned that a quality education is of the utmost importance, not only for college-age students, but starting from infancy. I've earned my BS in Health Science, enabling me to have a greater knowledge of the health and wellness field in general. Also, I've learned to publish various professional research papers, adding to my grammatical, mathematical, and critical thinking skills. I also have a passion for languages--besides gaining fluent knowledge of Portuguese during my LDS mission, I've also learned Spanish and am currently learning Italian at home. During the last few years I've had several opportunities to teach and mentor people with my college internship, and leadership class work.
I love how all types of people have different ways of learning. I am very good at adapting to find out how best the person learns, so its not simply a b ... read more

I love interacting with children and teaching them to the best of my ability. I know that each child is unique and you have to truly understand the child and the stresses and concerns they have with learning, before you can teach them. I am very patient, kind, and understanding. I want the child to know that he or she is capable of learning anything and will allow them to reach that potential. I believe in hands on learning and being active. This way the child can remember what they learned more easily, but I am willing to teach in any way that will suite my student. I want them to understand and be able to explain what they are learning to others.
As a graduate of BYU-Idaho I have learned the importance of education and how blessed an individual is who pursues it. I was able to take numerous courses dealing with reading, writing and psychological development of children. I ... read more

Earning a BS in Economics from BYU was challenging and rewarding. To excel in such a competitive field of study required advanced skills in math, statistics, and logic. In addition, having studied the Russian language for 4 years (2 in high school and 2 in college), lived in Russia for 2 years, and tutored students of the language, I am uniquely qualified to tutor students interested in the Russian language. After 5 years of professional experience, I am now preparing to enter a Masters program for Physician Assistant studies in the Fall of 2010 by completing advanced courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology.

A Little Bit About Me...

I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the time that I was a Kindergartner. That may seem to be a silly dream for a five-year-old, but I have always loved education. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in April of 2010, and my Idaho Teaching Certificate in September of 2010. I am state certified to teach all subjects for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. I have a musical background, mostly vocal, and experience with children who have ADD/ADHD and Tourette's Syndrome. I have a passion for reading, and so follows a passion for teaching reading and comprehension. I am also literate in Spanish, having taken 7 years of Spanish classes myself.

I believe in the Socratic Method. Through this tutoring method, the student is asked questions to help them develop understanding on their own. Through this discovery style, the students actually learn in ways that will be remembered most. I believe that any child, teenager, or adult can learn most effectively through their own discovery, with my help and guidance. I believe in having "ah-ha!" moments, and the feeling of relief and excitement when connections are made, and learning happens. That's what I want for my students.
My degree consists of two areas of emphases: English and the Humanities, with a minor in Dance. Through the course of my study, I have learned how to be a better writer, understand and appreciate literature, religions, and cultures of the world. I specialize in math and science. These fields have complex ideas that I know are hard to approach as a student. Often times, students fail to see the real life applications of higher level math, and this can be a frustration. I emphasize the real life examples and applications of complex math and science. I believe anyone can understand math and science if they have a patient, understanding, and insightful mentor who can break down concepts into simple steps. I try my best to do these things when teaching others.
Recently, I graduated with my BS degree in physics. This major requires a working knowledge of advanced mathematics, and its application to real life scenarios. Working in physics frequently requires learning complex concepts, and being able to explain those concepts to peers for feedback. My degree required I write a senior thesis. Working on my senior thesis he ... read more

I have love teaching and working with children since I can remember. I believe and a child needs a good trusting relationship with his teacher in order to learn the objective of the lessons being taught. In trying to build this relationship, I try to let them take the lead in their learning as much as possible and wait to see where I am need to most. I believe that if a child can take the lead in their own learning they will get much more out of what is being taught. I am also a firm believer in hands on learning, were the child can discover and manipulate objects in there environment.
As a Head Start teacher, I plan and implement daily lesson for 3, 4 and 5 year olds. I've gained experience with teaching in an array of ways. Firstly, I'm a recent graduate from BYU-Idaho in Piano Performance earning my Bachelor of Musical Arts. Throughout my training as a professional pianist I studied piano pedagogy and now have a functioning piano studio of my own. In addition, I was a music tutor and teachers assistant helping my fellow students grasp music theory concepts. Furthermore, I worked as a youth counselor at a summer camp called Outdoor Youth Activities (OYA) where we specialized in working with young teens. Here I had a chance to guide and counsel with teens in large groups and also a one on one personal basis.
Probably my greatest gift that I've been given in this life is my love for people. I believe this love manifests itself through my teaching and makes me a unique educator. I am dedicated to my students and I glory in their successes. I know ... read more
