A Little Bit About Me...

I believe I have a natural ability to work with students of all ages. Tutoring and being able to help students understand certain topics is very rewarding for me. I truly enjoy doing helping others. My teaching style is somewhat laid-back, but students know that I expect them to learn to their fullest potential. I believe in using several learning styles in the classroom and being to identify which students require different ways of learning. If something doesn't work in the classroom, I will do what it takes to make each student understand.
I began my tutoring experience in the fall of 2009 with a program called Breakthrough Manchester. It serves underprivileged students in the area who do not have the resources to succeed. A Little Bit About Me...

I was more of an instructor than a teacher. I was a day camp counselor at Solway House parent/child resort in Saugerties N.Y. I instructed kids how to swim, dive, play various sports and gave dancing lessons to the guests. As a high school student I tutored 7th and 8th graders in an after school community center. I was one of a few staff at the University of Connecticut to instruct graduates and staff in the use of the various electronic facilites available to them.
I feel children are very self-aware and are very vulnerable to positive and negative feedback. Therefore, no matter how little progress is made, praise them. If no progerss is made or if an issue needs to re-addressed, praise them..."That was great, but let's try it this way!" I feel that you are positive, smiling, and they believe that you believe in them, 9 out of 10 kids will follow you!
