Helping and watching children learn is inherently rewarding. While skills and content must be mastered, methods can and should be tailored to the individual student. Each child has her/his own style of cognitive processing and problem solving. Attention to the learner's style is critical to the successful acquisition of skills and concepts. I strive to make learning fun. Also, I have been trained in assorted mnemonic (memory) strategies. Most importantly, I believe self esteem is an essential factor in educational growth. I have a BS in biology with a teaching emphasis as well as an AS and AA. My college education has included classes in anatomy and physiology, geology, physics, organic and standard chemistry, zoology and botany. I have been a member of a field research team and involved in my own research project. I have tutored students in not only biology but also many other academic disciplines. I also have a broad base of life experiences.
