I studied many different theories of learning while in psychology and fundamentally understand what it means to be a teacher. My teaching style allows the student to learn the material as independently as possible and improve their critical thinking skills, by asking the right type of questions and finding the student's best learning style. First and foremost, I understand that no two children learn the same. I believe many children struggle in a learning environment simply because they are not comfortable with it. I excel at personal communication, and make it my first goal to find out how the student is going to learn the best. Whether it requires dancing, music, pictures, whatever it takes, once a student is comfortable they are far more likely to absorb information. This holds true for any age. I want the student to understand that they are capable of learning anything, they just may not have had the right opportunity to yet. My teaching style is whatever best fits the student. When working one on one with a student I practice a few different methods of teaching and whichever one they feel the most comfortable with and I receive the most attentiveness from, is the one that I continue to use. For example, some students prefer that you walk them through a lesson, go over a few practice problems and then let them work on assignments, knowing that they have you to assist them when needed. Others might want to jump into the assignment and when a question arises, they ask you to refer to the lesson to help them find the solution.
