Students should be active learners, not passive recipients.

My teaching style is largely reliant on the principles of systematic and explicit instruction. When teaching a new concept or reviewing a concept that the student is struggling with, I like to begin with content with which the student feels comfortable and familiar. Thus, we can build up confidence and feelings of competence before we move on to harder material. In addition, I believe in the individuality of the learning process. Students learn in different ways and different paces, which I strive to consider and respect.
