I have my BA from Scripps College in both English and History. I have significant experience tutoring within the humanities, but also German, math and the sciences. I have experience working with both audio/visual learners and a kinesthetic/tactile learner. The kinesthetic/tactile learner had learning disabilities akin to ADD, but still did very well in the small group environment. I believe that children who want to learn will do so given the proper setting and sufficient time to succeed. I have very high patience for children who try hard and still struggle, but I do expect the student to give their best effort at each task.
I earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 1984. My subjects of passion were math and science and I enjoy working with children who struggle in those areas. I have home schooled my son through the end of 12th grade and he was ready for college freshman classes at age 15. A Little Bit About Me...

A life long love of learning has influenced me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and more recently, a Master’s degree in Human Relations with an emphasis in counseling. The completion of these degrees was accomplished around the responsibilities of being in the US Army but my determination and flexibility enabled me to eventually achieve my educational goals. My experience in the US Army also provided an excellent opportunity to interact with a very diverse group of people. I have mentored and trained people of different ages who had different learning styles.
I believe learning should be fun regardless of one’s age and I will strive to make reading a fun as possible for each child I tutor.
