I use a teaching paradigm that stresses the importance of student's needs and learning styles. Every student brings unique skills and perspectives to the classroom and tutor session, and because of this I have found that my teaching strategy changes per student and per teaching situation. I am a creative, patient teacher. I know that everyone learns differently, so I try to come up with many different ways to explain a concept. They practice reading the story for 1 minute, many times, marking their stopping place and recording how many words they've read onto their reading log. There are questions they answer about the story for comprehension. The reader is then ready for a hot read with the tutor. Their reading words per minute is always improved from their cold read.
