Since 1991, I have been tutoring and teaching children in Florida, California and Costa Rica. I earned my BA degree from Florida A&M University in Visual Arts and History and my Master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in Dance Ethnography. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very hands on and visual teacher that believes the best way to learn is by seeing and doing things yourself. In order to provide the best teaching expereince I would teach through multiple examples and putting difficult subject matter into a context the student can understand and visualize. A Little Bit About Me...

My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job. Before coming to college, I volunteered over 100 hours working with a Title 1 child on her reading, writing, and math skills. She was in the third grade for the second time that year, and by no means can I take credit for the fact that she went on to pass that year, but I do believe I helped her by understanding her difficulties, working with her as someone who was interested in seeing her succeed. I am a very patient person, and most of all, I consider myself empathetic. I graduated from Florida State University in 2004 with a B.A. in Spanish and Italian with a minor in French. I have been tutoring with the Modern Language Department since 2001 and tutor in all three languages. I also spent a month in Spain teaching English to native Spanish speakers. As an undergraduate, I was involved with the America Reads program, where I was a reading coach/language arts tutor to elementary and middle school children. I am also qualified in tutoring basic math and college prep math.
As a teacher/tutor, I find that being a good listener and paying attention to students needs creates a successful learning environment. Every child acquires information differently and their ways of learning should be respected. By creating lessons based on exciting, "real world" applications, students are more accepting to the content at hand.
