Biology is one of my top subjects! I have taken and received A's in two Biology courses at Ball State University.

I like to teach as if I am one friend talking to another. I find that this is the most relaxed way to encourage learning. While a relaxed atmosphere is important, my parents (both elementary and high school teachers) showed me the importance of completing objectives. I will push you, my friend, to learn as much as possible - and retain that information - during our time together.
I am in my third year at Ball State University. I recently changed my major from Biology to Accounting; therefore, I have lots of knowledge in many different areas - some that aren't listed on my profile. I am experienced in categories ranging from Biology to Accounting to baking. While working with an adult native Spanish speaker to improve her English was certainly rewarding, my desire has always been to work with children or adolescents, as I feel that they are more amenable to an educational program and have a greater learning capacity when given the proper opportunities. My teaching style is one of constant progression, in which the student's strengths and weaknesses are weighed and an appropriate lesson plan formed based on his/her abilities. This lesson plan can be subject to change based upon rapid progression or extended difficulties in a subject, and I also take into account each student’s distinct learning style. Education should be a process in which a pupil is made to not only regurgitate facts but also to become motivated through active learning and discovery. I am a patient but firm instructor who would love to further adolescents along their educat ... read more

As a parent concerned about the condition of the public school system we decided to homeschool our last two children. I began teaching them in the first grade and have continued up to, and including, the present time. My son is now a high school freshman and my daughter is in the eighth grade. During this time I helped start a homeschool cooperative. We wanted to continue homeschooling our children, but we also wanted to provide them with more choices taught by someone experienced, or having an expertise in an area. The parents, myself included, taught a wide variety of classes. I have taught english, history, reading, poetry, Bible, math, science, spanish, cooking, and music.
I love children and I love teaching children. I teach using a variety of methods. I have learned that children have different ways of learning. Some children are visual learners so I used plenty of v ... read more

I love helping others learn and achieve higher levels of academic success. Working with College students is always neat since the material is challenging and engaging. But, I also love children and enjoy working with them in mathematics, spelling, and science. I'm an easy-going and patient person who feels honored to help children and adults alike meet their full potential. A lot of times, a small amount of individualized attention can go a long way.
I have earned a BS in Mathematics with Actuary Emphasis. This allowed me to become very well-rounded as I studied Finance, Accounting, Business, and Computer Science along with my Math core. I have presented two individual research projects at Mathematics Association of America Conferences and learned great presenting techniques and communication skills. Before becoming a math major, I studied pharmacy for two years and also have an ex ... read more

More About This Tutor...

Teaching children and adults is my life's work. I believe not only can all children learn but I believe all children can excel, if given the motivation and inspiration. I also believe that if children learn to love learning, they will excel in all that they strive to achieve. I believe in making learning relevant and interesting. I am adaptable in my style and approach in education. Due to the fact that our children are all unique, I believe their educators should develop, within their own styles, an approach that is unique for each of their students. I hold high expectations for each of my students but all of my expectations are attainable for the student and I help them to achieve those expectations in excellence.
I have always worked well with children because I enjoy their capacity to learn. I am drawn to students who feel they are incapable of excelling in subject areas ... read more
