Math and Science Tutor high school to college age.

Tutored for about ten years as needed. Experience with high school and college math and science. I am working toward a nursing degree and intend to complete a degree in mathematics education for high school ages. My past tutoring experience has included all high school math and Calculus 1 for college, for science I have experience in tutoring chemistry primarily. However, I'm comfortable tutoring in anatomy and physiology if the need arises.
Flexible, I try to adapt the material to the student's learning style and needs. Emphasizing the points that they get, and using analogies to clarify the information as needed. I love working in small groups and seeing people "get it."

While working with an adult native Spanish speaker to improve her English was certainly rewarding, my desire has always been to work with children or adolescents, as I feel that they are more amenable to an educational program and have a greater learning capacity when given the proper opportunities. My teaching style is one of constant progression, in which the student's strengths and weaknesses are weighed and an appropriate lesson plan formed based on his/her abilities. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always worked well with children because I enjoy their capacity to learn. I am drawn to students who feel they are incapable of excelling in subject areas in which they struggle. I also have a gift of working with students who have behavioral challenges and/or special needs to due to a disability. My AA in Early Childhood helped me to understand how the brain develops and how people learn and how to utilize the stages of development in educating people. My BA in Child and Family Studies has given me the ability to see each of my students wholistically and to teach them according to their future goals based upon their background and goals.
