I think it is important to understand that everyone can learn, however it is just a matter of how long it takes. Kids learn at different paces. They may need to be shown a different way to learn. For example, I believe that children learn to read by understanding the book,through meaning. It's important to discuss what is happening in the book. I have a guided reading lesson plan that tells me exactly what I need to work on with that student. Is the student looking at the pictures to help him/her with a word? etc.. I am very patient and kind. I love working with kids and seeing their faces light up when they have achieved certain goals.

While in high school and college I have always held a passion with working with children. While enrolled in college I volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club near my university. When volunteering I assisted kids with Reading, Writing, and Math homework they may have after school hours. Upon graduating, I worked as a Reading Tutor. Then in 2001 I taught Title One reading in TN for a year then Fourth grade for three more years.
