In my year of graduate school I accepted a position as a teaching assistant. It was my first opportunity to stand in front of a class. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to teach and also help people in subject areas of which you have great expertise and interest. More recently, I have had vast experience working with middle-school students and am currently doing in-home tutoring. I continue to enjoy working with all types of students, especially in mathematics.
In teaching, one must realize that students learn at different rates of speed. Consequently, you need to find a pace at which the student feels comfortable. As most of my experience and interest is in mathematics, I always want to see a student be able to solve problems on their own. My methods are rather traditional. I beleive that there is no way around hard work. I will explain the problems in many different ways in order for the student to grasp a particular concept. I also am a irm believer that the more problems a student does, the better they become in doing the material.

I started tutoring a blind gentleman in his collegiate algebra course while still an undergrad. I later went on to TA several courses during my graduate work at A&T. While at OSU, I tutored math and chemistry for the Office of Minority Affairs where I conducted regular tutorial sessions in order to prepare students for level algebra, organic and inorganic chemistry exams and laboratories.
