I am graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Sociology at Tennessee Technological University of Cookeville, TN. I transferred from a 2 year community college in Harriman, TN known as Roane State Community College. Before starting college, I graduated from Rockwood High School in Rockwood, TN, where I never made lower than a B or a high C in some of my harder classes. I started taking college classes in my Senior year of high school and I was always in the advanced Math classes up until that point. I'm a quick, fast learner and always strive to be better in what I do. In my final year at MTSU, Spring and Fall 2010, I had the pleasure of tutoring in mathematics. I worked for both the department of mathematics and the athletic enrichment center, each providing a different tutoring experience. This tutoring, coupled with my extensive math coursework, has provided a greater mathematical understanding and teaching experience.
Tutoring students and resolving confusion are simply additional problems to solve in math. Since many students learn in different ways, one must be able to explain the same concept in various ways. The development of these alternate methods of description is a great way for not only the student to learn but also for the tutor to better understand the material.
