My comments on tutoring Calculus I : I minored in Mathematics in college. I took Calculus I, II, III and IV. I liked Calculus 1 and II the most.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems with a double minor in Business Administration and Mathematics. I Love tutoring individuals and passing on knowledge. I was able to use my tutoring skills in college as a math and computer science tutor. I am a very analytical person. I am comfortable to be around. Tutoring is one of the most challenging, but rewarding, endeavors that I have undertaken. Each student has a unique learning style; as a tutor, I must determine which style the student favors and then modify the subject matter in a way most suited to the student’s understanding. It is my firm belief that, given enough dedication and the proper teacher, every student is capable of learning. As a tutor, I focus on conceptual understanding behind the problem. In my final year at MTSU, Spring and Fall 2010, I had the pleasure of tutoring in mathematics. I worked for both the department of mathematics and the athletic enrichment center, each providing a different tutoring experience. This tutoring, coupled with my extensive math coursework, has provided a greater mathematical understanding and teaching experience.
Tutoring students and resolving confusion are simply additional problems to solve in math. Since many students learn in different ways, one must be able to explain the same concept in various ways. The development of these alternate methods of description is a great way for not only the student to learn but also for the tutor to better understand the material.
