Most of the subjects I have selected I passed with an 85% or better. I also did some tutoring in high school for other students. If I didn't learn it, I am most likely to figure out what is going on. It helps to know before hand what the lesson and subject is, just so I can remember what it is and to be more prepared.
I would prefer the library, just because it is big and open. The library in Tooele is a great example. It has rooms that can be used. I would prefer tutoring no more than 10 students at a time. If I can get a copy of the lesson before hand, I can be prepared.

Give Real life experience a try

Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I also have an aunt who is mentally handicapped, and I love spending time with her she is a very giving person. They teach me and it is always a joy to work with them and give something back.
Hands on approaches mixed with worldly knowledge, and a very patient style.

The more you ask,the better you learn. So,Keep asking.(I love

more than 35 years of teaching experience in schools, language centers and academies throughout the Middle East. I am a language consultant in English and french where I designed curricula for various levels and trained teachers in linguistic methodology.Teaching is my lifetime passion. The teaching method should be tailored to the student's character, ability and the degree of assimilation. There is no standard method of teaching.
Active learning is the most effective way to learn. This entails an ongoing dialogue between teacher and learner. For example, grammar rules are ABSORBED and not taught in an abstract way.At the end of each topic,a role play is implemented where the learner becomes the teacher, and vice versa as this is the best way for both the teacher and students to assess the level of the student's understanding.

I like to get a student to the point where that student can apply basic skills to complete a problem. Once the student can apply those steps, I then like to move onward to get the student to be able to understand the reasoning behind the solution to the problem so that the student can use these steps to solve similar types of problems. I have spent a lot of time as a soccer referee and coach as well as a chess team coach working with youth.
I have spent over 30 years working in various positions in the computer industry. I returned to school to gain a Mathematics/Teaching degree (without certification) from the University of Utah. I have taught for a single year at West Wendover HS in West Wendover, NV. During that year, I taught basic applied math classes as well as Algebra I, Algebra II and Pre-Calculus classes.

More About This Tutor...

I began teaching algebra and geometry at a junior high in the fall of 2004, following graduation from USU. During my three years of teaching, I have found numerous ways to help students overcome difficulties in mathematics and learned better ways to help students become successful. I held a part-time tutoring position while in college, and continued to be a personal tutor for people in the neighborhood while teaching full time. In the last six years, I have tutored junior high, high school, and college students in subjects ranging from pre-algebra to calculus. Prior to my third year of teaching, I began an MA program with WGU in Math Ed. I finished this program by the end of the school year, along with completing the requirements to earn my Level 2 teaching license.
My favorite thing about teaching math is watching those students who once believed they were incapable of doing ... read more
