A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching English and History education for three years. I have experience on the 7th, 8th 9th and 10th grade levels. For the last three years my high school English courses have been centered on ACT prep. for the ACT/MME students take their junior year. My eighth grade curriculum focuses on strengthening testing scores, reading comprehension and writing ability (formal and creative). I also have taught Shakespeare and core minored in Shakespearean Lit while earning my English Degree. My experience with history education has been focused in geography, culture, western civilization, American history, European history and African American/African histories. I have taught the summer school credit recovery classes in my school district for three years and have also home schooled and tutored for seven years. My teaching style approaches the learner with patience and creativity. As an art and writing student, I realize that many kids learn differently, and I try to approach each situation as a unique situation. As a writing consultant what I loved hearing about was when students became more confident and improved to the point of independence. Because of this my teaching style involves breaking down the writing process into a format that is understandable for the student and using the foundations of their learning. As a student myself, I appreciate and respond best to constructive criticism, and so I have learned to first praise, and then improve.
