My comments on tutoring Elementary Reading : I am a certified K-8 elementary teacher and have taught for 8 years. I have my Master's Degree in Reading. I have my Reading Specialist certification and have taught first grade for most of my career. Thus, I have extensive work teaching students to read.

Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects! I absolutely love reading, especially reading children's books or novels with students. I also love discussing books and helping students to understand the meaning behind the author's words.

From my experience, I have realized that students learn faster and retain the information they learned longer if a tactile, hands-on approach is used. Currently, I teach K-5 students, and no matter what I'm teaching, I try to turn it into an educational game where the students are up and moving and having fun while learning. Each one exceeded my expectations and learned far more than anyone could have imagined. I truly believe in finding the style of learning that suits each student, and pursuing that particular route. And I have found that you can include each learning style by using a tactile approach. It is extremely simple to add in visual and auditory components within hands-on activities. Hello, my name is Jennifer Garcia and I am currently in the final stage of becoming a certified elementary teacher. My experience began in high school when I offered my tutoring services to elementary children. The student was in grade school and I assisted in math for a period of 3 months. Other opportunities arrived in college. I was a TA for two years for one of my professors. When I finished my B.S. I worked part time with an online company called tutorjam where I tutored five days a week, 2-3 students a day. The subjects I focused on was math and reading ranging from grades 1-8. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the last few years I have assumed several leadership roles. I have served as the curriculum connector for my team at Ridge Elementary. In this role I obtain and share information with my teammates about curriculum changes and guidelines in the district. During the past eight years I have served as a FLEX facilitator at my school. In this position I have collaborated with teachers of all elementary grades to support the at risk children at Ridge. I was a mentor teacher for two school years when the district employed official mentors. I am currently the grade level representative for the electronic grade book group.
