Do math and you can do anything!!

Hello, my name is Jennifer Garcia and I am currently in the final stage of becoming a certified elementary teacher. My experience began in high school when I offered my tutoring services to elementary children. The student was in grade school and I assisted in math for a period of 3 months. Other opportunities arrived in college. I was a TA for two years for one of my professors. When I finished my B.S. I worked part time with an online company called tutorjam where I tutored five days a week, 2-3 students a day. The subjects I focused on was math and reading ranging from grades 1-8. I have two step children that I have helped and coached all thru elementary school.

Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects! I absolutely love reading, especially reading children's books or novels with students. I also love discussing books and helping students to understand the meaning behind the author's words.

From my experience, I have realized that students learn faster and retain the information they learned longer if a tactile, hands-on approach is used. Currently, I teach K-5 students, and no matter what I'm teaching, I try to turn it into an educational game where the students are up and moving and having fun while learning. Each one exceeded my expectations and learned far more than anyone could have imagined. I truly believe in finding the style of learning that suits each student, and pursuing that particular route. And I have found that you can include each learning style by using a tactile approach. It is extremely simple to add in visual and auditory components within hands-on activities. I love finding new ideas and fun ways to teach each subject!
