A Little Bit About Me...

I have a way of teaching that simplifies the subject to the student, who may not be so mathematically inclined. Got certified at Mt. Hood Community College in a tutoring method which emphasizes questioning the student in a way which brings the student to a place where they can solve the problem themselves.
Tutored math for the 2007/2008 fall and winter quarters at Mt. Hood Community College. Substitute taught at Indianapolis public Schools (1994) and Warren Township Schools (May 2007) in Indiana. Taught adult sunday school Summer of 1990 and fall 1991.

I have been tutoring subject listed on my resume for about 11 years. Currently, I tutor 1) primary grade children in language arts, 2) one adult in computer programming skills (algorithms, MS SQL Server 2008, Java), and 3) through a couple of tutoring companies. I conduct tutoring in groups, one-on-one, in-school, and in-home. My education in geophysics and geology have provided me an intensive and extensive understand of several areas of applied mathematics, physics, and chemistry, all subjects which I have tutored and/or taught in the community college setting.
My learning and teaching preference is reading/writing. I adjust to students who are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. As an English major I have always enjoyed and excelled in the field. I was top of my class in high school. I also aided in the kindergarten class. I changed my major in college because I knew English was my calling. I have a Bachelor's degree from Warner Pacific. I enjoyed my classes and did extremely well. I aided at Clackamas High for a while, where I enjoyed the one on one with the students. In my current job I have trained and taught many associates. I am a perfectionist who pays great attention to detail. I love to read, write and create. I have always wanted to work as a tutor.
