I recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Development. However, before Human Development was my major, it was English Language. Through my four years at a major university, I have learned how to properly write research essays, what sources are credible for essays, and essay format. I also have had a pet-peeve for words that are incorrecly spelled and when there are grammatical errors in something professionally done.
I believe that children all come with different levels of cognition. Therefore, each child has their own learning pace. I like to give a child the time that he needs in order to accomplish his goal in learning. My teaching style is flexible depending upon the needs of my student(s). Some students have disabilities that make drilling or repetition styles of teaching and tutoring difficult and tiresome, while other thrive on it. Building a good relationship with a child is key to helping them learn. When good relationships are developed children can then trust the teacher or tutor to help them in whatever way possible. This relationship builds a good emotional bank account and children will do hard things when asked. I know that all children can learn. As a Mormon/LDS missionary I attended the LDS Mission Training Center and then spent 2 years in the Tokyo area. I studied and spoke Japanese daily. I taught a message in Japanese daily. Also I spoke to congregations in Japanese regularly. Following that time, 2004-2006, I studied at BYU (acclaimed for its language success). Here I have earned 20 credit hours of Japanese with an A- average. I am not fluent but I am very good.
